June 17, 2016
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I can’t believe that another year is coming to an end. This will be our last Principal Holloran’s Writing Corner for the 2015-2016 school year! I wanted to take the opportunity to give “shout-outs” (thanks) to the different people who have helped me through this year.
** The faculty and staff at NHCS— who have guided our children from as early as 7:00 in the morning to as late as 5:30 at night. I want to thank these amazing, dedicated and caring educators who understand the importance of holding the bar high academically, but also have the ability to encourage, guide, laugh and love every child that walks through our doors. Our school is special because of them! By coming to a small community school, our students have had the opportunity to interact with each and every one of our staff members. These opportunities have happened not only in the classroom but in Project Promise, on the mountain at Ragged, during lunch and recess, at the ice arena, stopping by the office, purchasing a meal from the kitchen, asking for a new box of Kleenex, working in Room 2, and getting that amazing ice pack in the nurse’s office that seems to heal almost any ailment.
** The custodial and maintenance staff—for their hard work in making our school and grounds look great.
** Mrs. Cook—being the assistant principal while I am at DES, my dual role would not work without your support and time.
** The parents who partner with us in the most important aspect of their child’s life—their education.
** The administrative assistants (Mrs. Knott-Garon and Mrs. Troup)—who always have a warm smile or a kind word to get me through the difficult days. Their organization and ability to keep me moving in the right direction help on those days when my schedule becomes crazy!
** The students who “share” me with another school—thanks for your flexibility and understanding that I cannot be at every recess, lunch or school event.
** The New Hampton PTO—for your endless support and commitment to our school communities. We are so fortunate to have such caring and dedicated individuals.
** Our many parent and community volunteers—we would not be able to go on field trips, have beautiful gardens, and create the special projects without your special contributions.
** My family and friends for always being there for me—providing me with encouragement, support and love.
In the end, it was another amazing year!
P.S. Over the summer, read, read and read some more. Remember, the Summer School Programs run from July 5th through August 4th. Information about transportation will come later this month.
