Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Thursday and Friday of this week, I have had the opportunity to attend the annual New Hampshire Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NHAHPERD) conference. I continue to hold teaching certifications in both physical education and health. Prior to going into administration, I taught health education at Alvirne High School for eight years. My undergraduate degree was in physical education.
Going to this conference has both its positives and negatives. I enjoy going because I get to see and catch up with some familiar faces. It is fun to reminisce with my former high school softball coach, former college assistant softball coach, high school PE teacher and some former colleagues. I also gain new ideas and acquire new skills. I can now balance and spin a plate on a stick and use rhythm sticks. One of the negative parts of attending this conference would be that I really miss teaching and coaching! I always leave wondering if I made the right call by leaving the classroom.
I guess that is why I always jump at the opportunity to cover classrooms on the days we can’t find a substitute or there are times when Mrs. Frost is out and I decide to teach PE for the day. I think that is also why I officiate basketball games for the TTCC in the winter months.
But the more I think about it, I am grateful for the opportunities I have had and I must say that I wake up every day excited, happy and ready to come to work...so I guess….LIFE IS GOOD and I would not change it!
Have a great weekend--
