Writer's Corner: A Message from Miss Holloran

Volume 5, Issue 36
June 7, 2013

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I can’t believe that another year is coming to an end.  This will be our last Principal Holloran’s Writing Corner for the 2012-2013 school year!  I wanted to take the opportunity to give “shout-outs” (thanks) to the different people who have helped me through this year.

** The faculty and staff at NHCS and DES—without your dedication, support, and hard work, none of this would have been possible.

** The administrative team in the Newfound Area School District—this team helped me understand that through challenging times, if you stick together, you can move on through the sadness.  At least once a day, something happens at school (a child reading a story to me or watching the excitement of a student working on a science experiment) that reminds me of Marie.  Her love and passion for students and her desire to make our schools a place where students want to grow and learn will always resonate in my heart and mind.

** The custodial staff—for their hard work in making our schools and grounds look great.

** Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Robinson (the assistant principals)—without these individuals, my dual role would not work.

** The parents who partner with us in the most important aspect of their child’s life—their education.

** The administrative assistants (Mrs. Knott-Garon, Mrs. Troup and Mrs. Brown)—who always have a warm smile or a kind word to get me through the difficult days.  Their organization and ability to keep me moving in the right direction help on those days when my schedule becomes crazy!

** The students who “share” me with another school—thanks for your flexibility and understanding that I cannot be at every recess, lunch or school event.

** The New Hampton and Danbury PTOs—for your endless support and commitment to our school communities.  We are so fortunate to have such caring and dedicated individuals.

** Our many parent and community volunteers—we would not be able to go on field trips, have beautiful gardens, and create the special projects without your special contributions.

** My family and friends for always being there for me—providing me with encouragement, support and love.

In the end, it was another amazing year!  Enjoy the last week of school!

P.S.  Over the summer, read, read and read some more.  Remember, our Summer School Programs run from July 8th through August 8th.
