January 24, 2014 Emergency Update & Lockdown Practice

Dear Parents and Guardians,

With us being halfway through the school year, we are asking parents to take a minute to update phone, work and emergency information. If any of this information has changed, please call or send in a note with your child. It is imperative that we have the latest and easiest way to reach you during the school year. Our nurse needs to be able to reach you when your child is ill and needs to be picked up. When we are looking to touch base with you on a minor classroom issue, it is important to be able to reach out to you with such information.

As part of our safety drills, we conducted our lockdown drill today at school. At morning meeting, our teachers reviewed the expectations and answered any questions for our students. I came over the intercom to announce that we were in a “lockdown”. At this point, our students and staff moved to a safe place and remained quiet. I walked around the outside of the building to check the security and then moved into the building to observe the actions of our staff and students. Later in the day, I emailed the staff to get any feedback and we will address any concerns or questions at our next faculty/staff meetings. Our students and staff did an amazing job during the drill.

Have a great weekend and stay warm!
