I don’t know if I am missing the snow or glad we haven’t had our first snowstorm yet! But time continues to pass by, so I
wanted to share with you two of our upcoming events. From the positive feedback from last year, we are going to continue the tradition of not having individual classroom parties on the last day before our holiday break but gather as an entire school community. Last week, you should have received a permission slip to allow your child to ride down to the New Hampton School on 12/23. We are asking parents in our classrooms to purchase a particular item to support our holiday celebration. For example, if you are a parent in 5th grade, we would like you to donate 10-12 bottles of water. If every fifth grade family purchased 10-12 bottles of water we would have enough to cover our entire student body, staff and families who attend the event. If your grade level has fruit, maybe send in a plastic bowl of cut up strawberries or blueberries. Items can be dropped off Wednesday morning at school and our staff will work on transporting them over to the New Hampton School. If you would like your plate, bowl, platter, spoons to be returned, please make sure your name is located on the item. It is our hope this year to have a better variety of snacks. We invite family and friends to join us down at the New Hampton School Dining Hall at 9:00 a.m. We will start with a quick welcome, opportunity to sit with our family and friends for a bite to eat and then we will have a whole school sing-a-long around 9:40 a.m. Our students will return to school around 10:30 a.m. Dismissal will be at noon.
Kindergarten—Vegetables & Dip
1st Grade—Juice Boxes
2nd Grade—Crackers, Cheese & Pretzels
3rd Grade—Fruits (that have to be cut up)
5th Grade—Bottled Water
As I have spoken in previous Writer’s Corners, one of our school goals is to improve our overall student school attendance. To share with parents some data, information, and our game plan for moving forward, our attendance committee would like to invite you to join us for a potluck dinner and parent meeting on January 13th. Some of our faculty and staff will provide babysitting for our students and siblings during the meeting portion of the evening. The potluck will be set up from 4:45-5:00 p.m. and dinner will be from 5:00-5:50 p.m. At 5:50 p.m., I will organize students into classrooms. Our informational meeting will be from 6:00-6:30 p.m. We will also be having a few door prizes (gas card, Subway gift card, and Innisfree Bookstore gift card). I hope you will mark this date on your calendar and join us for this very important meeting.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions regarding these two upcoming events.
Have a great weekend!
