A favorite memory of mine from college was when a few of my floormates and I went puddle hopping. It was a warm spring afternoon with nothing to do. It had rained the night before and into the morning, but by lunchtime the weather had turned.
It was a blast! After an hour, we returned to the dorm muddy and soaking wet. We were all smiles. I never laughed so hard!
How about making your own memories this weekend? As a family, spend some time puddle hopping or playing in the mud. Get dressed in already “dirty” clothes, put on those barn/snow/mud boots, get out into the fresh air and start playing. Getting muddy together doesn’t cost a thing!
There will be some time spent with clean-up. But if it gets warm enough, you can always turn on the garden hose and get washed off before bringing those muddy clothes back into the house.
As Mary Lyn Ray states in her book, Mud, “Winter will Squish, Squck, Sop, Splat, Slurp and melt in mud. Happy mud. Stir it. Stick it. Dig it. Dance it. Gooey, gloppy, mucky, magnificent mud.”
Have a great weekend!
