Hi, Parents and Students,
I hope you are enjoying your summer vacation!! As we flip the calendar to August, many of our staff members are returning to the building to get ready for school. We are all looking forward to meeting our new students and saying hello, again, to the familiar faces.
I would like to take this time to welcome everyone to stop by on Wednesday, August 27th ICE CREAM SOCIAL!! My family and I will be serving ice cream from 6:30-7:30 p.m. out near the Little Red School House here at New Hampton Community School. Come and enjoy time with your family and friends. Please remember that everyone in your family is welcome to attend this evening event (rain or shine).
In addition to the ice cream social that night, parents and community members will have the opportunity to be fingerprinted and fill out the necessary paperwork required to volunteer. As part of the process, you will need to bring your driver’s license with you as we will need a copy for our records.
Please remember that the first day of school for our students will be Tuesday, September 2nd school starts at 7:30 a.m. and breakfast is offered, starting at 7:05 a.m. To ensure a smooth transition on the first day, we will have our warning bell ring at 7:25 a.m. At this time, all students, staff and those parents wishing to see their children off on the first day will meet in our multi-purpose room. Starting promptly at 7:30, our classroom teachers will walk their students up to their classrooms. Parents may join their children from 7:30-8:00 a.m. in the classroom. At 8:00 a.m., our entire school community will meet back in the multi-purpose room for our kick-off assembly. After the assembly, only students will return to their classrooms. We have successfully used this schedule over the past few years, and it has helped to reduce the first-day-of-school worries and jitters (for both students and parents ).
The majority of our faculty and staff are returning for another great year at NHCS! We are pleased to welcome:
• Ms. Melissa Markey as our 5th
• Ms. Sally Delong as an additional special education teacher.
• Ms. Kate Dixon, PSU apprentice teacher, who will be working with Mrs. Doucette.
• Ms. Jessica VanTassel who will be working as a special education paraprofessional.
We will have a busy first week of school! Parents, please make sure to read all the important paperwork and fill out all the various forms during those first few days of school. We will be looking for updated information regarding emergency contacts, etc. Check in your child’s backpack for our weekly school notice and my Writer’s Corner on Fridays.
I look forward to another great year and to seeing our fantastic students on September 2nd calendars, as our Open House will be on Tuesday, September 30th hesitate to call with any questions, concerns or comments.
