Volunteering

Dear Parents and Guardians,

At our recent PTO meeting, we were discussing how everyone’s lives are busy and sometimes people can’t commit to attending monthly meetings but might be interested in helping out with an event. So, we thought we would invite individuals to learn more about our events and then maybe sign up to work on one of them.

If you are interested in helping, please contact one of our PTO members: Wendi Cantwell (wcantwelliii@metrocast.net); Nora
Foster (norafoster1@gmail.com); Melissa Jenness (melissajennes@gmail.com) and Megan Magrauth (meg@blissfulworks.com)

Monthly Birthday Bulletin Board—(beginning of each month) Create our monthly bulletin board to celebrate everyone’s
birthday. Use your creative spirit to build the monthly board which is located right within our main school entrance. Supplies can be provided.

Fun Run/Walk—(October 14, 2014) Come cheer on the participants and help to hand out rubber bands as students and staff complete each lap. This event will occur from 10:00-11:15 a.m.

Family Game Night—(held this winter) Families will come for an evening to play BINGO and some other classic games. Create and distribute flyers, collect and organize BINGO and games, attend evening event, supply some healthy snacks for the evening, and be part of the clean-up crew.

Winter Activities—(Thursdays in January-March) Help chaperone some of the winter activities such as ice skating, snowshoeing, chess, cribbage and skiing at Ragged Mountain.

Kids’ Expo—(around March) Outside of school, students create a project of discovery or self-interest and these items are displayed for an evening. Distribute flyers, help with set-up, walk around prior to the evening event and provide written feedback on the individual displays, and be a part of the clean-up crew.

Book Fair—(April) Help with the set-up, selling and break-down of the Scholastic Book Fair.

Staff Appreciation Week—(April) Provide healthy snacks and small tokens of thanks to celebrate the NHCS staff during
Teacher Appreciation Week. Provide healthy snacks and seek out donations from local businesses for Friday’s luncheon.

PTO Staff Appreciation Dinner—(April) Seek food donations for event, set-up crew, help with cooking/serving, and help with the clean-up crew.

Greeter for Kindergarten Connections—(May) Welcome families to this morning event and help in the set-up of the tables.

Seek Sponsors for our Yearbook—(throughout the year) Work with Nora Foster to visit local businesses to inquire if they
would like to place an ad in our annual yearbook.

Become a PTO Officer or Member—(throughout the year) We have openings for President and Treasurer (work with our
current Treasurer this year to learn the ropes). Our upcoming meetings are November 5th  and December 3rd

Have a great weekend
