This week we are attaching “Notes from the Music Teacher”.  You’ll find information from Mrs. Bird that pertains to the upcoming talent show, as well as a reminder about the NHCS Winter Concert.

We will be collecting addresses for all active service members.  If you have friends or family members who are presently serving in the armed forces or stationed at a military base, please send their names and addresses to us. We will be organizing and sending out holiday cards and could use your assistance.

Parents and guardians who have sent in their children’s pre-registration forms for skating, skiing and snowboarding should have received a packet of papers for completion.  As stated on the cover sheet, in order for your children to participate, paperwork and money must be received no later than Friday, December 6.

If your child is in need of ice skates, we have several used pairs that have been donated by our NHCS families.  There are both figure and hockey skates in various sizes.  Just give us a call for further details (744-3221).

The following workshops are scheduled to take place at Plymouth’s Whole Village Family Resource Center:

November 18, 5:30 to 7:30 pm – Nurturing Skills for Parents:  This is an 8 week series for parents and

caregivers (week 1 is orientation; 7 weeks of classes).  Nurturing Skills presents an alternative way of bringing up children.  Participants will learn how to recognize and react to children’s feelings; understand the importance of rules, routines and positive discipline practices; and learn how to manage expectations as children develop.  The workshop begins with a family meal at 5:30; the program begins at 6:00.  There is a $10 fee for the series; childcare is provided free of charge.  Workshop is presented by Whole Village Family Resource Center/Granite United Way, 258 Highland Street, Plymouth.  To register or for more information contact:  Marlaina O’Reilly at 536-3720, ext, 106 or marlaina.o’reilly@graniteuw.org.  December 2, 12, 19, 6:00 to 8:00 pm – Cooperative Co-Parenting:  This 3 weeks series covers coping through separation and transition, skills for dealing with stress and anger, positive communication strategies, how to reduce and resolve conflict, and negotiating agreements.  Anyone who is co-parenting will gain valuable insight and information.  Jay Apicelli, M.S., shares his years of experience at this workshop.  There is no cost for the program and childcare is provided at no cost.  Workshop is presented by Whole Village Family Resource Center/Granite United Way, 258 Highland Street, Plymouth.  To register or for more information contact:  Marlaina O’Reilly at 536-3720, ext, 106 or marlaina.o’reilly@graniteuw.org.

Mrs. Marcotte, our ICT teacher, is looking for volunteers to help out in the library.  If you have any time, even a half hour here and there, she could use help in reshelving books.  If interested, please give her a call.  She’ll set up a time when it’s convenient for you to come in and see what needs to be done.

Share Your Photos for the 2013-2014 Yearbook:  Students are gearing up for class parties, field trips and other fun activities. We need your help to capture those moments for this year’s NHCS yearbook. You can upload your photos at any time to http://nhcs.picaboo.com. Please make sure your camera and camera phone settings are set to the highest resolution for best print quality.  Nora Foster, our yearbook coordinator, is looking for volunteers to coordinate photos, yearbook ad sales and yearbook layouts. Contact her directly at norafoster1@gmail.com.

Hannaford Helps Schools is a program that provides NHCS an opportunity to raise funds for our student activity account.  The program began on September 1 and will run through December 1.  When certain items (listed on the flyers that have gone home) are purchased from Bristol Shop & Save, you will receive “school dollars” that may be deposited in the box marked “New Hampton Community School” which you’ll find toward the front of the store.  If you shop at any of the other Hannaford stores in the area, and receive “school dollars”, please send them in with your child and we will bring them over to the Bristol store in order for our school to receive credit.

Throughout the school year, we will be “Capturing CARES” and recognizing students who have been caught modeling our mission statement, “NHCS CARES” (Character, Achievement, Responsibility, Excellence, Spirit).  During Wednesday’s lunch time, the following students were recognized:

Joseph Ballou - Character & Responsibility

Zacarra Bony - Character

Hunter Clark - Excellence

Keith Corriveau - Achievement, Responsibility, Excellence

Mr. McCann - Character, Responsibility, Excellence, Spirit

Andrew Murray - Character, Achievement, Spirit
