This summer there are plenty of incentives to keep your student reading! Here are three summer reading programs that Mrs. Hunewell has discussed with students in ICT classes:
- Gordon-Nash Library “Dig into Reading” Summer Program: From June 25th to July 30th, participants in this reading program may come to Gordon-Nash Library on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 for special programs (which are free) to support the “Dig Into Reading” theme. Archaeology, a puppet show, building and recording with nature, and an animal program from the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center will all supplement your child’s summer reading adventures.
- The NHCS Summer Reading Program: Read for designated time periods, color a shovel to record your time, and list the titles of books read. Sign off on your child’s participation in completing the challenge, return the form when school begins, and your child will earn an ice cream treat and a coupon for a free book ($5 value) at the Book Fair in the fall.
- TD Bank Summer Reading Program: Read 10 books and record the titles. Return the completed form to your local TD Bank and $10 will be deposited into a new or existing Young Saver account. See their website (http://www.tdbank.com/summerreading/) for more details or to download replacement forms.
Paperwork with more details about these three programs can be found in your student’s report card envelope. Extra NHCS forms to print at home can be found on the school’s website at nhcs.sau4.org. May you and your students have a happy summer of reading!
