From Superintendent Buckley: The Newfound Area School Board is seeking two community members to serve on the newly created Newfound Area School District Facilities Committee.  The goal of the committee is to review, develop and propose a 10 year Capital Improvement Plan that will provide for safe, healthy, accessible, and well maintained facilities in the Newfound Area School District.  Community members seeking a role on this committee should have an understanding of facilities and facility needs.  This will be an ongoing committee that will meet at various times throughout the school year and summer.

If you are interested in participating on this committee, please send a letter of interest along with your qualifications to:   SAU #4 Central Office, 20 North Main Street, Bristol, NH  03222.   Applications will be received up until Wednesday, March 19, 2014.  It is anticipated that the School Board will appoint members at their March organizational School Board meeting.

Greetings from the Library Media Center:   We are now using Destiny Quest to access the online catalogue for the library.  In this platform, students can review books, request books to be put on hold, request books to add to our library collection, and access Follett Shelf (our ebook collection).

To access Destiny Quest,  follow the link on the NHCS homepage.  You can view as a guest or login with your username and password; however, you won’t have access to the electronic books and other features without logging in.  For students, their username and password are the same as what they use to log into the computers at school.  This will also give students access to the electronic books.

These can be accessed on the I Pad by downloading the Destiny Quest (see below) to your device.  You will be prompted for the URL for our Follett Account https://newfound.follettdestiny.com/.  Students can then read the electronic titles we have available online.  We currently have 40 titles available in digital copy.

Mrs. Marcotte, our ICT teacher, is looking for volunteers to help out in the library.  If you have any time, even a half hour here and there, she could use help in reshelving books.  If interested, please give her a call.  She’ll set up a time when it’s convenient for you to come in and see what needs to be done.

Throughout the school year, we will be “Capturing CARES” and recognizing students and staff who have been caught modeling our mission statement, “NHCS CARES” (Character, Achievement, Responsibility, Excellence, Spirit).  During Wednesday’s lunch time, the following students and staff were recognized:

Henry Fielding - Achievement

Jazmin Ivers - Responsibility

Andrew Joseph - Responsibility

Mrs. Nelson - Character & Excellence

Audryauna Terrell - Character & Achievement

Dominick Woodward - Responsibility

Share Your Photos for the 2013-2014 Yearbook:  Students are gearing up for class parties, field trips and other fun activities. We need your help to capture those moments for this year’s NHCS yearbook. You can upload your photos at any time to http://nhcs.picaboo.com.  If you come by the school and plan on taking pictures of a school event, pick up one of the business cards that Nora Foster, our yearbook coordinator, recently had printed.  The cards contain photo upload information. Make sure your camera and camera phone settings are set to the highest resolution for best print quality.  Nora is looking for volunteers to coordinate photos, yearbook ad sales and yearbook layouts. Contact her directly at norafoster1@gmail.com.
