Students in 2nd grade will be using Light Bot which is a program that teaches core programming logic at a super basic level. Students can access this activity at home by going to light-bot.com/hocflash.html. Students in 3rd & 4th grade will be using Tynker, which is an intermediate level graphical programing tool that allows students to work on sequencing commands, identifying patterns, and using procedures to create digital animations and games. This is a program that students can continue to use from home, where lessons will be posted to enhance their coding skills. The 5th grade students will use Blockly at code.org. In this activity, students use sequencing commands, identify patterns, and use algorithms to have the computer make decisions. Students who want to access this activity from home can go to the following url to do so: http://learn.code.org/hoc/1
- Orders were received last Friday afternoon. If you placed an order, but have not yet picked it up, please do so ASAP. We will not be sending orders home with the students, due to the possibility of breakage. If you have any questions, please give us a call.
Mrs. Marcotte, our ICT teacher, is looking for volunteers to help out in the library. If you have any time, even a half hour here and there, she could use help in reshelving books. If interested, please give her a call. She’ll set up a time when it’s convenient for you to come in and see what needs to be done.
Share Your Photos for the 2013-2014 Yearbook: Students are gearing up for class parties, field trips and other fun activities. We need your help to capture those moments for this year’s NHCS yearbook. You can upload your photos at any time to http://nhcs.picaboo.com. If you come by the school and plan on taking pictures of a school event, pick up one of the business cards that Nora Foster, our yearbook coordinator, recently had printed. The cards contain photo upload information. Make sure your camera and camera phone settings are set to the highest resolution for best print quality. Nora is looking for volunteers to coordinate photos, yearbook ad sales and yearbook layouts. Contact her directly at email@example.com.
